Diversion Dam Decommission and Demolition

This project was decommissioning and demolition of the Salmon River Diversion Dam for BC Hydro. The purpose of this project was to give the river back to the spawning Steelhead and Salmon that migrate the river each year.

Instream works of this project had to be completed within a fish window of July 1st to September 15th. Ketza managed to pull off an extreme amount of work in this short window. Any fish that did arrive during this window was salvaged and transported up or down the river.

Below are some key figures:

80,000,000 litres of water treated
43,000 plus man hours
22,000 metric tonnes of materials removed
1,2000 tonnes of creosote timber removed
40,000 kilograms of steel removed
4,394 fish were salvaged
